The 2012 conference will bring together students from around the world to discuss diverse and pressing international issues such as the role of women in peace and security, the elimination of racism and xenophobia, and the effects of atomic radiation. This year's General Assembly regional committee will simulate the 2012 Earth Summit (Rio+20), focusing on climate change, sustainability and the challenges of global environmental stewardship. United Nations, New York, 19 February 2010 - Former American Idol Kris Allen arrived in Haiti today for a one-day visit to see the devastation of last months earthquake and the United Nations (UN) work firsthand. American Idol has partnered with the UN Foundation for an episode dedicated to the victims of the Haiti earthquake. Allen, 24, will be showing footage from his trip to Idol viwers. After visiting the UN's temporary headquarters in Port-au-Prince, he went to see one of the capital's numerous settlements.
