Originally I wondered if the flood style beam would make this not as useful as the E01, but I was pleasantly proven wrong when I tested it. The E05 functions better at the same distances, plus lights up a large area. There is enough light to clearly see all the way across my garden enough to see if someone is there. At longer ranges the light is understandably lower, yet still offers useful light at such ranges. For close up work this light is astoundingly useful. The brightness of the E05 is a clear win over the older E01. Both E01 and E05 are excellent lights and well worth the purchase, due to their low cost.
